Parent groups are important for O.U.R. Journey Skagit because they help families better support their children. When parents are involved, they learn more about the struggles their kids face, especially when it comes to things like gang attraction or trauma. By connecting parents, these groups create a sense of community where families can share experiences, get advice, and feel less alone. At the moment, our groups are only available in Spanish.
Parent groups also give families the tools to recognize early warning signs and take action to support their children in positive ways. Overall, parent groups strengthen the efforts of O.U.R. Journey by addressing the critical family dynamics that impact youth engagement, growth, and healing, thereby fostering a holistic approach to community reintegration.
