Barber & Beauty Shop
Behavioral Health Project
.

Barber and beauty shops aren’t just places for haircuts—they’re community spaces where people connect, share stories, and support each other. The Northwest Credible Messenger Initiative sees these spaces as more than businesses; they’re safe places where trust and relationships naturally grow.

Goals

  • Break the Stigma: Normalize conversations around mental health by integrating support into everyday community spaces.

  • Increase Access: Bring behavioral health resources to trusted places like barbershops and salons, making support easy to reach.

  • Promote Well-Being: Create safe, welcoming spaces where people feel comfortable discussing emotional and mental health.

  • Harness Trusted Relationships: Leverage the deep connections within these community hubs to foster open, supportive conversations.

  • Empower Community Leaders: Equip barbers and beauticians with tools to serve as credible messengers for mental wellness.

  • Encourage Early Support: Provide resources in familiar settings to help people recognize and address mental health concerns early.

  • Build Stronger Networks: Strengthen community bonds by fostering shared experiences, awareness, and resilience.
